The Applications of PTFE(Teflon) Rods And Their Role in Production Activities
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) rods are widely used in various industrial sectors for their soft texture and corrosion resistance, mainly for sealing purposes. Many people may wonder about the applications of PTFE rods and their role in production activities. Today, I will introduce the uses of PTFE rods in detail.
1.There are three specifications of PTFE rods:
a. Extruded PTFE Rods:Rods with diameters ranging from 4mm to 9mm are made by processing dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene resin paste through pressing.
b. Pressed PTFE Rods:Rods with diameters from 10mm to 50mm are produced by extruding suspension polytetrafluoroethylene resin using a plunger.
c. Molded PTFE Rods:Rods with diameters from 55mm to 300mm are manufactured through molding.
2. Versatile Applications of PTFE Rods
The applications of PTFE rods include working as gaskets, seals, lubrication materials, and electric insulation components in various corrosive environments. These rods are made from unfilled polytetrafluoroethylene resin (which may contain recycled polytetrafluoroethylene resin) through molding, paste extrusion, or plunger extrusion processes.
3. Widespread Use of PTFE Rods in the Chemical and Mechanical Industries
PTFE rods find wide applications in different fields. In the chemical industry, they can be used as anti-corrosion materials to manufacture various components like pipes, valves, pumps, and fittings. They are also employed in the production of reactor vessels, distillation columns, and linings for anti-corrosion equipment. In the mechanical field, PTFE rods are utilized as self-lubricating bearings, piston rings, oil seals, and sealing rings. Their self-lubricating properties reduce wear and heat generation, thereby lowering power consumption.
4. Application of PTFE Rods in the Medical Field and Other Areas
Moreover, PTFE rods are used in the medical sector due to their heat resistance, water resistance, and non-toxic characteristics. They serve as materials for various medical instruments and artificial organs, such as sterilization filters, beakers, artificial heart-lung devices, and artificial blood vessels, hearts, and esophagi. Additionally, PTFE rods are widely employed as sealing materials and filling materials.
